In our Chats Without Borders series, international education leaders, experts and successful graduates share tips and real life advice for how to thrive as a student abroad.
The embrace of remote and flexible work has taken geographical distance out of the job equation for many job-seekers, and that includes interns.
Shorelight is leading the way in helping international students access those opportunities and preparing them for success in a remote work environment. With its new Premium Career Services offering, one of the largest international educational services providers in the United States has developed a unique program that offers advice on writing resumes, interviewing for roles and more. This program focuses on developing both practical training as well as many soft skills needed for internship success, including project management, teamwork and critical thinking.
That’s a big deal. Remote work presents unique challenges for interns – who may not have forged the connections that older colleagues have already made and who miss in-person access to mentors to help them gain the skills they need.
In this 13-minute video interview, hear from Shorelight’s Sean Busenlener, General Manager for Shorelight Marketplace, who shares his advice on how international students can secure internships that lead to real career opportunities, and real-life examples of how their programs are helping international students do that.
